CROWNS & BRIDGES
CROWNS
Dental crowns cover the entire visible surface of the affected teeth and add strength, durability and tooth stability. Grinding your teeth, an improper bite, age, fillings and tooth decay can all be contributing factors in the wearing down, cracking or breakage of your teeth.
There are basically three types of crowns, those made of various types of porcelain only, those made of porcelain with a gold core for strength, and those made purely of gold. Each type has different merits and these will be discussed with you during the consultation period.

BRIDGE
A bridge is a way of replacing missing teeth by placing crowns(caps) on the teeth nearest the gap, and bonding on false teeth to these crowns. The supporting teeth must be strong enough to support the bridge, and this technique can be used to replace one or more teeth quickly and reliably.
Fixed bridges do not cover the palate or tongue areas- they look and feel just like natural teeth, and do not come out like a plate (denture).

ADHESIVE BRIDGE: This is an excellent way to replace a single missing tooth near the front of the mouth with no injections or drilling. A thin support wraps round the inside of the neighbouring tooth, carrying a false tooth to fill the space. The bite must be suitable for this technique.
