Dr Allan Pirie qualified in dentistry in 1981 from Glasgow University and subsequently worked for a year in London at the Royal Dental Hospital and the Middlesex General Hospital Oral Surgery unit.
Since then the main focus of Dr Pirie’s dentistry and postgraduate education has been in the replacement of missing teeth using dental implants. He was awarded DGDP RCS in 1995 and gained an MSc in Implant Dentistry in 2006. He has taught many dentists implant dentistry and has been a tutor at both the University of Warwick and the University of Glasgow Dental Hospital.
Dr Pirie has earned a reputation throughout Scotland for excellence in implant dentistry and numerous dentists, from the Orkneys and Shetlands to the borders, refer their patients for complex implant treatment.

Helen qualified in 1979 from Dundee and spent 6 years working in various Oral and Maxillo-Facial Units, gaining much surgical experience. After several years travelling around the world, then living and working in Australia she returned to the UK and settled in Edinburgh.
Helen went fully into private practice in 2001 and has worked hard at extending and improving her restorative and cosmetic work at the same time keeping up with her surgical skills. After appropriate training she started restoring and placing dental implants 10 years ago and is now embracing the new digital work flow technology which as in many respects of life is the way things are moving.
Helen also is trained and registered in "Clear" and "Inman Aligner" cosmetic orthodontic alignment of front teeth. Helen has recently stopped working part time in Edinburgh and is now concentrating solely on her work here at Clifton Dental Clinic.
This leaves her with a bit more time to pursue the other things in life that are important to her, such as gardening, doing anything outdoors, diving and getting on her bike.
BDS MSc (ENDO) Imp Dent

Dr Ross J Henderson qualified from Dundee University in 2003. He worked in general practice and went on to complete his Masters in Endodontics at St.Barts, London in 2013.
Dr Henderson has built up a private endodontic referral service and accepts referrals for all aspects of endodontic care, including both non-surgical and surgical.
Dr Henderson lectures on endodontic topics for general practitioners. Here at Clifton we have a dedicated endodontic suite with an operating microscope and can provide sedation if required for anxious patients.

Mark Sorrentino graduated from Edinburgh university in 1991 subsequently completing Vocational Training and working in various maxillofacial positions across central Scotland.
He then owned and ran 5 busy practices between Ayrshire and Edinburgh before changing direction and developing a special interest in restorative dentistry and implant dentistry.
He has been placing implants for over 15 years and maintains a healthy record of keeping updated and attending courses.

Kerry joined our team of dental hygienists in 2012 and has many years of experience. She qualified at Edinburgh Dental Institute and has since trained in customer service with the American dental management group, Jamieson Management.

Susanne also works in the hospital service in the specialist periodontal department and is involved in teaching Hygienist / Therapist students.

Dr Ahmed completed his dental degree in his home city of Glasgow in 2005. Following vocational training in general dental practice he spent 2 years working as a senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery. These training posts were completed at the Southern General Hospital, Glasgow and Monklands Hospital, Airdrie.
In 2007 Dr Ahmed was awarded the Membership Faculty of Dental Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow. In 2012 following 4 years of further education at University Dr Ahmed completed his medical training. He was awarded a MBChB with commendation. During these years at the University of Liverpool Dr Ahmed worked regularly in oral and maxillofacial surgery and was involved in many major head and neck surgeries.
With regular attendance at courses Dr Ahmed aims to stay at the forefront of his speciality so he can provide the best care for his patients. He is also involved in lecturing and mentoring in dental implants and oral surgery to fellow colleagues.
Dr Ahmed is a trustee for the Dental Aid Network Charity. He has completed multiple dental aid missions to countries in Asia and the Middle East. The Charity aim to promote oral health for the impoverished through oral health education, prevention techniques and by providing simple dental treatment. In his spare time Dr Ahmed enjoys spending time with his family and keeping fit by attending the gym and cycling.

Johann is a full time dental nurse. Johann qualified in 2006 and supports the endodontic and implant teams.
Johann's goals are to run a happy and efficient clinic welcoming all colleagues and patients.
Johann's hobbies are swimming, yoga and reading.

Susan qualified in 1987 in Glasgow as a dental nurse and worked in an NHS practice for 18 1/2 yrs.
She has worked with us for 14 years supporting Dr Allan Pirie as an implant nurse.
Susan has a supporting role as part of the implant team hosting restoration events and coordinating hands-on courses for dental colleagues keen to learn about implants as an alternative option for their own patients.
Looking to the future Susan is keen to expand her knowledge of developing dental technology/techniques whilst providing a caring and relaxing atmosphere for our patients.
In her spare time Susan relaxes with yoga classes, going to the cinema/concerts and reading.

Rachelle is a newly qualified dental nurse and provides support wherever it is needed at the practice. Rachelle's focus is always the patients, ensuring they feel welcomed, never rushed and comfortable to ask any questions they may have.
Rachelle's main roles are within the clinical aspect of the practice, assisting the dentists in surgery and creating an aseptic environment for surgical procedures.
When not at work Rachelle likes to fill her weekends with family, friends, live music, camping, hosteling, hill walking and spending as much time as possible with her amazing husband Alan.

Julie started working in Dentistry in 1988 & trained as a Dental Nurse, she gained her qualification as a RDN in 1995. Julie has worked in the private sector for over 20 years.
Julie has been a practice Manager now for 13 years & was very fortunate to have worked with Boots Dental Care & The Dental Clinic where she gained experience working with experienced clinicians from general dentistry to specialised treatments, endodontics, orthodontics, cosmetic & Implants. Julie was lucky to have the support from senior management which in turn gave her the knowledge that she now has to give patients an outstanding experience.
Over the last 3 years since Julie took over as practice Manager we have expanded the implant business from one implant surgeon to three.
Outside of the dental business Julie spends her time with her husband and 2 children.

Lesley's role within the team, focuses on ensuring patients treatments run smoothly behind the scenes and developing relationships with referring dental practices.
In her free time Lesley enjoys swimming, but her main love is going out with friends, attending concerts and watching football & ice hockey (especially when her nephews are playing!).

Michelle's job involves planning for implant surgery, setting up the implant suite prior to surgery,
decontamination of surgical instruments and providing both preoperative and postoperative patient care.
Michelle likes to ensure that patients are nurtured when they come to visit us.
Her interests are yoga, pilates & reading.
Pauline has worked as a receptionist for 14 years. Pauline supports all colleagues within the business and takes accountability of all administration duties to help run an efficient reception desk.
When not at work Pauline likes going on holiday with her husband John and children; Jonathan and Christopher, she also enjoy going out for meals and movies with her husband.
